However, assisted living does not always mean a retirement home, and not every retirement home means giving up all your freedoms. In a good assisted living facility, you can continue to live independently while relying on the support of trained nursing staff.

Young and old under one roof: once a popular way of living, now rather rare. But that seems to be changing. Multi-generational homes are becoming increasingly popular. How does a multi-generational home work?

First, the good news: rents in Germany are not rising as exorbitantly as is often claimed, but they are not stagnating either. At least not on average across Germany. This is shown by the latest residential price index published by the German Real Estate Association (Immobilienverband Deutschland). However, a closer look reveals that prices in some cities and regions have already peaked.
