Everything about your home in one app
This digitalization begins with the meter boxes. A so-called smart meter measures your electricity, water, and heating consumption in real time. Instead of large meter boxes or meters, there are now only inconspicuous sensors on the pipes. These tell the app how much is flowing through them. But that's not all: they also send the figures to the energy suppliers, who then send the bill to your smartphone. Gone are the days of filing cabinets full of paperwork, because all documents are stored in the cloud.
Identify power guzzlers with an app
This leaves you space for a new hobby room. With real-time meter readings, you could even avoid paying any more estimates and hope for a refund at the end of the year. The utility company could bill you accordingly. The smart meter also identifies your energy guzzlers and lets you know. This means you know immediately which appliances you may need to replace.
The app will also manage your ancillary and operating costs. Garbage disposal, building cleaning, taxes, square footage, number of people in the household, and the distribution key for calculation—the app knows it all. This means that waiting for the bill is a thing of the past. It's also climate-friendly, as it reduces the amount of paperwork.
The building notice board as an app
Digitalization is also finding its way into the home entrance with the help of digital house notices. If a neighbor notices that the front door is no longer closing or that a light in the stairwell has gone out, they simply type this into their cell phone and, seconds later, all residents are informed via a notice or the app. The responsible caretaker also receives this message immediately. So be sure to attach a photo of the damage to your message. Conversely, tradespeople can also let you know if repairs are taking longer than expected. The app also keeps you up to date with the latest news from the last owners' meeting.
The app as a door spy
If the doorbell rings while you're out, your smartphone can replace your peephole. An intercom with a camera allows you to see who's visiting while you're out and about. If it's the postman, you can tell him where to leave the parcel. If it's a good friend, you can tell them exactly when you'll be home.
Digitalization not only makes your home more secure, but also helps you save money. With the money you save, you can invest in other things that make your home more comfortable
