Six interior design trends for summer
1. Accessories: Precious metals
When it comes to accessories, this year's motto is: "All that glitters is gold." In 2018, brass and gold objects will be particularly popular.
Whether it's a mirror on the wall, picture frames in all shapes and sizes, candlesticks, vases or figurines in shades of gold – accessories made of precious metals are a must-have this year, instantly enhancing any room and creating a warm atmosphere. Bring a little more life into your rooms in no time at all, for example with a high-quality pendant lamp, a wall lamp, or a table lamp made of colorful glass. This summer, everything can shine and sparkle a little more.
2. Trend colors: red and purple
In summer 2018, earth tones and shades of red through to violet are particularly popular. These colors are used either as wall colors or on modern leather sofas and velvet armchairs. Our tip: Paint only one wall with an accent color to create more depth in the room.
3. Living room trend: It's going round
In addition to angular and square furniture, circular accessories are now becoming more common in living areas.
Here, too, the choice is vast: round mirrors, side tables, coffee tables, or short-pile viscose rugs. Round shapes represent energy and create a sense of community. The luxurious combination of marble, ceramic, velvet, and colorful glass is also very popular this year.
4. Terrace: a holiday feeling at home
In the interior design scene, the focus in summer 2018 is on bringing the vacation atmosphere into your own home. This is best achieved with rattan furniture, swing chairs, or hammocks. Combined with summer temperatures and a refreshing drink, you'll feel like you're in the Caribbean. Large plants in eye-catching pots also create a tropical feel on the patio. Golden elements can also be used outdoors and can be combined well with rattan or wooden furniture.
5. Bedroom trend: tropical
The bedroom can also have a tropical feel this summer. Gold-colored accessories on natural wood dressers, subtle textiles such as decorative pillows and curtains in pastel colors, and muted, bold wall colors add accents to the bedroom.
6. Wallpaper
If you want to make a somewhat bare or monotonous room look more elegant with little effort, try a sophisticated patterned wallpaper. Thanks to fresh materials such as durable non-woven fabric with texture, gloss and metallic effects or expressive patterns, wallpaper is very much in vogue. If you prefer a more natural look, cover your walls with striking wallpaper in concrete, wood, or stone panels.
